Several houses in community unit RW 10 Koramil in Cengkareng, West Jakarta, caught fire in the morning. West Jakarta fire department head of operations Sutarno, said that 18 fire engines and supporting vehicles had been sent to the area.
“We have yet to receive reports of how many houses were affected by the fire, but there are no fatalities,” he said as quoted by kompas.com.
Earlier, fire gutted the school building of the Ade Irma Foundation on Jl. Tebet Barat IV, South Jakarta.
Witnesses said that the fire started in the school canteen at about 2 a.m. Tebet police were investigating the cause of the fire.
In East Jakarta, a construction material store on Jl. Pagelaran, Cipayung, caught fire at about 8 a.m. It took 10 fire engines to put out the fire, which was fed by lumber and planks at the store.
Another incident took place on Jl. Hasyim Asyari, Central Jakarta, at 11:15 a.m., gutting a house located near Gambir Tiga tax office. Firefighters managed to contain the fire.
