strong>Bantul: Supiati, a 25-year-old resident of Harjomulyo, Ogan Komering Ulu, South Sumatra, is suffering a very unusual affliction — she has thousands of nails in her body, which has caused her pain and hindered her mobility. “I have visited many doctors but the problem still remains,” Supiati said on Wednesday.
Despite being taken to the hospital twice by her father, doctors only found evidence of her metallic problem after a second examination. Director of Nur Hidayah General Hospital, Arrus Ferry, said that Supiati would now undergo invasive surgery after a second X-ray detected nails in her body. Evariyanti, a nurse at the hospital, testified that she and her fellow nurses have taken out 56 nails from the soles of her feet.
“So far, more than 2,000 nails have been taken out and I have never felt better,” Supiati said, she added that she also felt uneasy as afflictions like this had been widely known in Dlinggo village where her father still had a house.
