he South Sulawesi Police’s drug division arrested AD, 26, in Makassar on Saturday and seized 1.8 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and Rp 650 million (US$67,567) in cash.
South Sulawesi spokesman Adj. Snr. Comr. Endi Sutendi, said the arrest was based on the information gathered from UD, 48, a drug dealer who was nabbed in Pinrang regency the previous day.
“On Friday, we arrested UD and confiscated 150 grams of crystal methamphetamine. We later found out about AD from UD,” said Endi.
AD was arrested on Saturday on Jl. Daeng Tata III. Besides 1.8 kilograms of meth, the police also seized 21 packets of the drug, a scale and five gold coins.
“We are still investigating whether the suspect is involved in a big, national ring, or even in an international network, because the authorities have caught three drug dealers in the last 1.5 months,” Endi said.
On Oct. 1, National Narcotics Agency (BNN) personnel seized 1.1 kilograms of meth and Rp 117 million in cash from three men, followed by the arrest of another drug dealer, who possessed 1 kilogram of meth and 1,000 ecstasy pills, at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport in Makassar.
