Indonesian world champion Daud “Chino” Yordan said his upcoming fight would be his last at the featherweight class as he would be ready to take his boxing career to the next level.

“This will be my last fight at the featherweight. I will improve my boxing to the super featherweight,” Daud told journalists on the sideline of a public training at the Senayan East Parking Lot, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.

The super featherweight class will require him to gain weight to 59 kilograms.

The IBO champion Daud will defend his title against Simpiwe “V12” Vetyeka of South Africa at the Senayan Tennis Indoor on Sunday.

Commenting on the match, Daud said he had made enough preparation during intensive training in the last three months.

Therefore, he was ready to face his challenger and confident that he would be able to defend his title.

“Now I’m just waiting for the D-day while doing some warming up and maintaining my nutrition consumption,” he said.

The highlight of Sunday’s contest will be the match between Super Champion WBA featherweight Chris “the Dragon” John and Satoshi Hosono of Japan.

The undefeated Chris said he would stay vigilant in watching over his opponent’s short punches.

“But I’ll be ready to anticipate whatever movements he will make,” said the 33 year-old.

Chris praised Hosono as one of the best boxers in Japan right now, given the fact that he was included in the top 10 WBA boxers.

Hosono is a two-time WBA challenger with a 23-2 record, with the defeats coming from his fights against Celestino “Pelenchin” Caballero of Panama and Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym of Thailand.

Chris added that he had made enough preparation for his 49th fight — with a record of 46 wins and 2 draws.

Daud and Chris said they would play safe by collecting as many points as possible, however they would not waste any opportunity to knock out their opponents.

Both fights will be aired live by RCTI starting at 9.30 p.m.
