Lion Air Boeing 737-800 with 108 people on board crashed on landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali, at 3:10 p.m., local time, on Saturday.
'The aircraft crashed off the runway before coming to a halt in the water,' said Alfazah, public relations officer of state-owned airport management company PT Angkasa Pura I, as quoted by tempo.co.
There are no reports of casualties. Passengers with injuries were taken to Kasih Ibu Hospital in Jimbaran shortly after they were evacuated from the aircraft.
Lion Air general affairs director, Edward Sirait, said that the aircraft was carrying 101 passengers and 7 crew, but refused to give more details of the accident.
Similarly, the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) has yet to provide. 'We cannot make a statement on this before communicating with Lion Air management,' said Masruri of the KNKT. (nai/ebf)
