Lion Air will pay maximum Rp 4m baggage compensation

T

he management of Lion Air will refer to the Transportation Minister'€™s Regulation (Permen) No.77/2011 on delay, loss baggage and accident insurance payment as the best criterion for the compensation of baggage lost or damaged as a result of the Boeing 737-800 crash near Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar, Bali, on Saturday.

'€œFor a wait of three days compensation of Rp 600,000 (US$61.8) would be paid, and for lost baggage [Lion Air] would be a maximum of Rp 4 million per passenger as stipulated by Permen 77,'€ said Lion Air'€™s airport service director, Capt.Daniel Putut, when visiting victims of the crash at Kasih Ibu Hospital in Bali, on Wednesday, as quoted by Kompas.com.

Previously, state-owned travel insurance company PT Jasa Raharja stated it would cover medical expenses for injured victims.

'€œWe have listed all of those being treated at hospital. We will cover their medical expenses,'€ said Bali-chapter Jasa Raharja director, I Ketut Sudiasa, on Sunday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

There are 52 passengers receiving treatment at several hospitals in Bali. (nai/ebf)
