AKARTA: An Indonesian trade mission will travel for one week to three countries starting from Wednesday to boost market diversification, and to push and solve trade barriers between Indonesia and its partners.
Led by the Trade Ministry, the mission aimed to woo businesspeople in Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Romania on business opportunities in Indonesia during a series of business forums, director general for national export development Gusmardi Bustami said Monday.
Trade officials would also meet with chamber of commerce and industry representatives as well as executives from several business associations in the countries to discuss strategic efforts to increase two-way trade, he added.
'Apart from boosting trade, the mission was also expected to help pull investment from Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Romania,' Gusmardi said in a statement.
At present, bilateral trade between Indonesia and the three countries is relatively low.
Last year, Indonesia traded US$172.7 million in goods with Romania, $63.16 million with Kazakhstan and $1.32 with Ukraine. Two-way trade grew 25.81 percent between Indonesia and Romania, 16.8 percent between Indonesia and Kazakhstan and 3.79 percent between Indonesia and Ukraine, all from 2008 to 2012.
