P

resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono arrived at Arlanda airport, Stockholm, on Monday night at 8:35 p.m. local time on a state visit at the invitation of Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf.

After flying for 12 hours from Jakarta via Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, the presidential aircraft was welcomed by a Swedish air force plane upon entering Swedish airspace and escorted to Arlanda Airport, the Antara news agency reported.

At the airport, the President was greeted by Swedish Minister for International Development Cooperation Gunilla Carlsson, Swedish Ambassador to Indonesia Ewa Polano and Indonesian Ambassador to Sweden Made Sastrawan.

While in Sweden, Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono will pay a courtesy call on the king and hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and Speaker of the Parliament Per Westerberg.

At the meetings, the two countries will discuss issues of mutual concern in the economic, environmental, educational, health, infrastructure, research and technological fields.

The two countries will also sign memorandums of understanding on scientific, technology and innovation, and health issues, according to Antara.

Yudhoyono said during his one-and-a-half day visit to Stockholm he would also meet with a number of CEOs of leading Swedish companies to attract more investment.
