he Jakarta Police said at least 4,000 people would take to the streets on Monday to protest the government's plan to raise the subsidized fuel price.
The Traffic Police's operational division chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Budiyanto said six groups had requested a demonstration permit for the day, including the Tangerang Labor and Workers Union Alliance and the All-Indonesian Workers Union (KSPSI).
They plan to stage protests at tollgates in Kebon Nanas in East Jakarta, Tangerang and Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from 8 a.m., beritajakarta.com reported.
Many more will occupy the roads in front of the House of Representatives, the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry and State Palace, all in Central Jakarta.
