South Korea to build biofuel plant in Aceh

P

T Goca Enc, a subsidiary of a South Korean company, plans to build a biofuel processing plant and a biofuel-fired power plant in Pidie Jaya regency, Aceh.

Goca Enc president director Jang Eun Seog said the power plant, which would have a capacity of 10 megawatts, would use biofuel processed at its biofuel processing plant as its fuel. '€The biofuel-fired power plant will use biofuel from the processing plant, which will be built within the same area,'€ he said as quoted by Antara news agency.

Seog said the biofuel would be produced from palm and jatropha fruits. Seog said the company also planned to export biofuel.

The Aceh Investment and Promotion Agency head of investment development, Syarifah Zulfa, said the company had obtained a foreign investment permit (PMA) from the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM). '€œWe hope this investment in Pidie Jaya will be realized soon,'€ said Syarifah.

Pidie Jaya Legislative Council (DPRK) Commission D chairman Mumfizar Zakaria said the power plant would provide at least 1,000 jobs for local people.
