Nokia Indonesia unveiled on Friday its new low-cost phone variant the Asha 210 that bridges the feature phone and the smart phone.
The dual-SIM phone would be available in August at a price of Rp 699,000 (US$68), said Nokia Indonesia product manager Irwan Hermawan during the launch of the mobile phone.
The Finland-based phone maker has created a phone that is between a feature phone and smart phone by including several applications like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, Line and the Nokia Store, but with a feature phone's operating system; Series 40. The Asha 210, the 14th Asha variant introduced to Indonesia, is targeted at teenagers up to "first jobbers", the sector that actively uses social media and chat applications.
Nokia has cooperated with providers like Telkomsel, Indosat and XL to provide so-called operator billing to allow consumers to pay for applications from the Nokia store using the phone's credit instead of credit cards.
