The 24-year-old shuttler dominated the first game and beat Chong Wei 14-21. But the veteran shuttler showed his class in the remaining games where he won 21-18, 21-11.
The two previously met in the semifinals of the Indonesia Open in June where Chong Wei eased past Hayom in straight sets, with the match ending 17-21 14-21. (iwa)
