The National Police say the Densus 88 counterterrorism unit has arrested two men allegedly linked to a terrorist network in Yogyakarta.

'€œOne of them is on the police'€™s most-wanted list. They were nabbed in the parking area of Garuda Inn on Jl. Malioboro, Yogyakarta, on Friday evening,'€ National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Ronny F Sompie said on Saturday night as quoted by Kontan.co.id on Sunday.

The two men have been identified as Muhammad Saiful Sabani, alias Ipul, 26, a resident of Bumirejo in Kebumen, Central Java, and Bayu Dwi Ardianto, alias Bayu, 21, a resident of Seyegan in Sleman, Yogyakarta.

'€œBayu was arrested because he was at the location with Ipul when the unit conducted the raid. They are currently in police custody for questioning,'€ Ronny said.

On July 22, Densus 88 shot dead two alleged terrorists and arrested two others in Tulung Agung regency, East Java. They were allegedly the accomplices of most-wanted fugitive terrorist Santoso.

The two arrestees, who are members of the second-largest Muslim organization Muhammadiyah, were later released.

Muhammadiyah chairman Din Syamsuddin said that the antiterror squad had made a wrongful arrest, claiming that neither of the two men arrested had ties with the two terror suspects shot by Densus 88 or any other terror groups. (hrl)
