he Great Indonesia Movement (Gerindra) party advisory board chairman Prabowo Subianto said that there was nothing political about his visit to the State Palace on Idul Fitri.
'This is Idul Fitri. I just want to ask for forgiveness of the President. I may have many wrongdoings,' he said, as quoted by Antara news agency.
Prabowo denied the allegation that his visit was aimed to gain President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's support for his presidential bid.
'This is only for the sake of Idul Fitri. I have a good relationship with the President so far,' he added.
President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono held an open house during Idul Fitri, which was attended by many public figures, including state officials, ministers, diplomats, embassies' representatives and politicians from various political parties.
In October, Gerindra will announce Prabowo's bid to run for president. Based on a survey done by the Indonesian Survey Circle (LSI) involving 1,200 respondents last March, Prabowo ranked third after Megawati Soekarnoputri and Aburizal Bakrie in terms of popularity with a total of 19.2 percent of likely voters.
