he Indonesian under-23 (U-23) national team will square offagainst Brunei Darussalam in a friendly match at Yogyakarta'sMaguwoharjo Stadium on Thursday evening. For both teams, the match is animportant early look to the 2013 SEA Games in Myanmar this December.
Indonesian coach Rahmad Darmawan told tempo.co that because this was an important international match, he would be playing a number of his squad's leading attackers and defenders.
Even though Indonesia lost to Brunei in their most recent meeting ' a 0-2 defeat last year ' Rahmad warned that his young team shouldn't be underestimated, as its players have been developing considerably.
Brunei coach Koun Soon said he was optimistic his team would repeat its previous success against Indonesia in Thursday night's match. He said eight out of the 20 players currently on the team had played in last year's victory.
'Indonesia is a good team in Asia, but we will be giving our maximum effort,' he said, as quoted by tempo.co.(apt/dic)
