wo senior high students have invented what they call a Robot Scout Ground Vehicle, which they say is able to perform  monitoring duties.

'We can monitor our houses by using this robot while we are away somewhere,' Alvier Vinandriyano, one of the student inventors, said on Saturday, as quoted by tempo.co.

The inventors, Alvier Vinandriyano and Rian Wardana, are students of State Senior High School 70 in Bulungan, South Jakarta. They introduced the robot during a robot exhibition held by the Indonesian Robot Community at the Jakarta Convention Center recently.

Alvier said the robot was equipped with a CCTV camera that connected wirelessly through Internet via the Android operating system.

He said a future project was to produce a telepresence robot, a robot to replace someone's presence. (hrl/dic)
