T Prudential Life Assurance (Prudential Indonesia) new business premium income grew by 32 percent to Rp 5.9 trillion (US$531 million) in the first half (H1) of 2013 compared to the same period last year, which contributed to the overall 30 percent growth in total premium income of Rp 11.8 trillion.

Prudential Indonesia's total assets in H1 also increased by 31 percent to Rp 46.5 trillion.

As of June 30, Prudential Indonesia also paid total claims and benefits amounting Rp 4.7 trillion.

Prudential Indonesia president director William Kuan attributed the company's continued growth to its strong brand, sales force growth, productivity, the expansion of its product portfolio and its customer service program as well as notable Corporate Social Responsibility programs that highlight the company's long-term commitment.

'Across Indonesia, more and more people are recognizing the important role insurance plays in providing protection and stability for their long-term financial planning. We are committed to listening to our customers and making sure we have the right mix of products and services to meet their individual needs,' Kuan said in an official release made available to The Jakarta Post on Monday.

Kuan further said, 'For some market segments, that means investing in more sophisticated products and services that offer increased coverage options and greater control over unit-linked funds. For other segments it means creating products to serve the needs of people who did not think they can afford insurance protection".

"Our ability to deliver products and services as well as educate consumers will strengthen our commitment to fulfilling customer needs, increase awareness of the importance of insurance and in turn ensure the continued development of our business in Indonesia,' he added.
