ome Minister Gamawan Fauzi said that he has asked Jakarta Governor Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo to consider replacing Lenteng Agung Subdistrict head Susan Jasmine Zulkifli, who has been facing rejections from residents because she is a Christian.

Gamawan argued that the rejections should be interpreted as Susan'€™s failure to garner support, which could jeopardize her future duties as subdistrict head.

'€œJokowi should consider a principle of '€˜the right man at the right place'€™ or '€˜the right man on the right job'€™, the minister said, as quoted by Kompas.com on Thursday.

Commenting on the minister'€™s remarks, lawmaker from the House of Representatives'€™ Law Commission, Eva Kusuma Sundari, said Gamawan'€™s remarks should be considered as support for radicalization.

The Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) politician said that on contrary, the government and its apparatus should be firm in dealing with those disrespecting the country'€™s constitution.

Despite the residents'€™ calls for a replacement, Jokowi has highlighted that he would not bow down to such pressure. (hrl/dic)
