Rhoma calls on voters to support PKB

S

elf-styled king of dangdut Rhoma Irama called on Muslims to vote for the National Awakening Party (PKB) so it could nominate a presidential candidate for 2014.

Rhoma, speaking in Garut, West Java, said that the PKB needed at least 20 percent of the seats in the House of Representatives, to nominate a presidential ticket.

Rhoma was at a gathering to introduce some of the party's prospective presidential candidates including himself.

PKB chairman Muhaimin Iskandar said that the party had warmed to the idea of nominating Rhoma as its candidate in the 2014 presidential election.

Recently, Rhoma declared his intention to run on the PKS' ticket, he would be in direct competition with former Constitutional Court chief justice Mahfud MD. Rhoma, however, said he was a more electable candidate.

"The whole world is aware of my presidential aspirations, including people in Europe and the United States," he said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
