tire factory in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, caught fire at around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, causing traffic gridlock on roads leading to Pluit.
'Around 30 fire trucks have been deployed to the scene. There is still a massive fire burning,' said North Jakarta's fire chief, Nurdin Silalahi, on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Fire crews were still fighting the blaze at 10:30 a.m. The cause of the fire at the factory, which is located on an industrial complex in Penjaringan, remains unknown.
Neither has there been any confirmation as to possible injuries or fatalities suffered as a result of the fire. The financial losses caused by the incident are also yet to be determined. (ebf)
