Jakarta Deputy Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has won the prestigious 2013 Bung Hatta Anti-Corruption Award for integrity and innovative moves in campaigning for budget transparency, said award committee member Betty Alisyahbana.
'Ahok has been implementing budget transparency ever since he was first sworn in as public official,' Betty said, as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday.
She said Ahok had posted the Jakarta budget on not only the city's website, but on his personal one as well. He had also videotaped every official meeting he held and uploaded them to YouTube.
Betty added that Ahok had also asked every agency under his administration to cut 20 percent of its budget by increasing efficiency.
Ahok has yet to comment on the award.
Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo had won the same award in 2010 when he was serving as Surakarta mayor.
