resident Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has approved the resignation of Indonesian Ambassador to the US Dino Patti Djalal who will take part in the Democratic Party's presidential convention.
'My resignation request has been approved. I will return to the US for the period December to January to settle my diplomatic administration processes as well as to bid farewell to colleagues and friends,' said Dino in Jakarta on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
'By April 2014, I will be ready for an 'all out' campaign,' he went on.
Regarding his participation in the convention Dino said: ' I had thought it over carefully. I was contacted by President Yudhoyono back in February and I conveyed my readiness [to participate in the convention] in August.'
Dino said his resignation as a diplomat was a sign of his commitment that as a leader he did not do anything by halves.
'As a President's special staff for six years and a civil servant for 27 years I have a lot of experience so that I'm sure that I won't be shocked by the higher level of service,' he said. (ebf)
