The Public Works Ministry will dismantle at least 300 illegally built villas in the Puncak resort area in Bogor regency, an official said on Sunday.

"We will restore order to the spatial planning of the resort. The 300 villas that obviously don't have building permits will be torn down," general director of the spatial planning directorate at the ministry, Basuki Hadimulyono, was quoted as saying by tribunnews.com.

Basuki said the illegal buildings stood in the water catchment area.

"They have caused flooding in Bogor and Jakarta. It's time to get the development of the area under control," he said.
