he construction of the last kilometer of a toll roadconnecting Kebon Jeruk in West Jakarta with Ulujami in Tangerang, is expectedto be completed in mid-2014, beritajakarta.com reported on Sunday.
Ngurah Wirawan, director of toll road contractor PT Jakarta Marga Jaya, said it would take five months to finish the Jakarta Outer Ring Road West 2 (JORR W2) project, which has been halted since 2010 due to land acquisition issues in relation to the Ciledug-Ulujami section.
'On behalf of the Jakarta administration, we thank the residents who eventually accepted the land acquisition offer,' he said.
According to Ngurah, the 6.2-km Kebon Jeruk-Ciledug section was ready to operate, pending approval from the Jakarta administration and the Public Works Ministry.
'There should be a traffic detour on Jl. Ciledug Raya around the toll entrance and exit gates.'
Ngurah said the company predicted at least 120,000 vehicles would use the toll road every day. 'The number could reach 150,000 during rush hour. When it's ready, the ring road might reduce traffic jams on inner city roads.'
In April, Governor Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo had lunch with residents affected by the toll road construction and explained the need to complete the toll road.
