Issue of the day: Anas rejects food in detention

J

an. 12, Online

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) put extra security measures in place around former Democratic Party chairman Anas Urbaningrum following his arrest on Friday.

On Saturday, a warden at the KPK detention center did not allow Anas to meet with his family who came bearing food and drinks for the disgraced politician. '€œWe delivered the food this morning but it was rejected. They suggested we come back Monday or Thursday,'€ Anas'€™ younger brother Anna Luthfie told reporters.

Anna said that members of his family and Anas'€™ defense team had made efforts to persuade the KPK to allow the food to be delivered.

Your comments:

He just wants special treatment and contact with his family to hide the money/houses etc.

Why should he get special treatment? Now, everyone can use that excuse and get food from the best restaurants. Why is his wife allowed to come every day? Again, special treatment? How much?

Is he in prison or in a five-star hotel?

Balistars

Like other corruption suspects, he will get sick and end up in a plush hospital.  Probably get one of those memory illnesses.  These politicians being caught with their fingers in the cookie jar are truly disgusting.

A hungry man makes an angry man. Sing Anas, sing!

Help round them up! Bring them in. I'€™m sure the 20 years you'€™re facing can be '€œnegotiated'€ to be trimmed by the KPK in exchange for '€œuseful'€ info.

Perhaps his organization has plans for him so that he doesn'€™t bring down all the others with him. If that organization, say, put something in his food, they would then blame the KPK for his demise. The KPK should just make him eat what everyone else eats. No special treatment.

The KPK has everything to lose if something happens to Anas: Everything to gain from him staying healthy.

They wouldn'€™t risk anything like that. Plus, they have absolutely no history of questionable treatment of their detainees.

Yes he just needs to talk to his family to make some moves and call some people while he cannot right now. That is the only reason he is refusing the food.

He could use being on a diet anyway to slim down some and live so he can stay in jail longer.
