PT Transjakarta is offering a 50 percent discount on Transjakarta bus tickets to celebrate its 10th anniversary this month.
PT Transjakarta spokesperson Sri Ulina Pinem said on Thursday that the discount applied for a week starting Wednesday.
'The discount applies only for electronic ticket holders. They
only need to pay for Rp 1,750 [14 US Cents] per trip from the normal Rp 3,500,'
Sri said.
Several private and state-owned banks have signed an agreement with the operator to support the Transjakarta e-ticketing system, including BRI, BNI, BCA, Bank Mandiri and Bank DKI.
'We will celebrate the first anniversary of e-ticketing on Jan. 22,' she added.
Sri said that the reduced ticket price was also being given to encourage Transjakarta passengers to shift to the e-ticketing system.
According to the operator, fewer than 20 percent of
Transjakarta
regulars have used e-tickets. Transjakarta buses carry up to 370,000 passengers
daily.
