'They are going to lose their revenue because of the crop failure,' Cirebon regency's Agriculture, Plantation and Livestock head, Ali Effendi, said on Tuesday.
He said more than 3,000 farmers in 10 districts throughout the region would suffer financial losses. He added that according to the most recent data, around 3,500 hectares of agricultural land had been inundated.
One of the farmers affected, Maman, acknowledged that he had suffered losses of about Rp 4 million.
'The chance of my being able to save my crops is very slim,' he said.
Cirebon is one of the country's top rice-producing areas, contributing 450,000 tons of rice from 80,000 hectares of paddy field.(dic)
