Jambi city has been categorized as a transit city for various narcotics and other illicit drugs but has yet to become a production center.
'The drugs are being shipped between Aceh and Jakarta mostly by land or through various rivers,' Jambi Narcotics Agency chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Try Setiadi told Antara news agency on Thursday.
'Some of the drugs are also being unloaded in Jambi city.'
Try said there had been no indications that the city has become a production center for drugs.
'Usually the perpetrators would survey an area to decide whether the place is suitable for producing narcotics,' said Try.
He added that the agency would be take a firm stance in eradicating drug distribution in the city including distribution involving corrupt police. (idb)
