hick haze leading to poor visibility disrupted both international and domestic flights at Sultan Syarif Kasim II International Airport in Pekanbaru, Riau, on Wednesday morning.
The first delay was a Silk Air flight from Singapore to Pekanbaru. "The airplane was scheduled to arrive at the airport at 8 a.m. but it was delayed as visibility is only 800 meters," airport duty manager Ibnu Hasan said as quoted by Antara.
A Sky Aviation flight serving the Malaka-Pekanbaru route was also delayed due to the haze. It should have landed at 8:55 a.m., yet by 9:12 a.m. the aircraft had not yet arrived.
Flights by Garuda Indonesia and Lion Air from Jakarta to Pekanbaru were also disrupted. Garuda's flight was scheduled to arrive at 7:50 a.m. and Lion Air at 7:55 a.m., but they were delayed until further notification.
A Lion Air flight from Batam to Pekanbaru was also cancelled. (krb)
