he East Kalimantan Police uncovered the smuggling attempts of a kilogram ofcrystal methamphetamine and 12,000 green ecstasy pills in a car on Friday.

A gram of crystal meth, locally known as shabu-shabu could be worth up to Rp 2.5 million (US$213) while the value of an ecstasy pill could vary from Rp 350,000 to Rp 500,000.

A man identified as Th was arrested and a Suzuki Swift car was confiscated as evidence. Th has been named a suspect and is being questioned at the East Kalimantan Police headquarters.

"The modus operandi was to put this car on a ship sailing from Surabaya to Semayang port, Balikpapan. The suspect would then pick up the car," East Kalimantan Police spokesperson, Sr. Comr. Fajar Setiawan, told kompas.com on Saturday.
