he National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has arrested two Iranians, identified as Said and Mustopa, and confiscated 60 kilograms of crystal methamphetamineworth Rp 75 billion, which had been buried in Lincung Forest in PelabuhanRatu, Sukabumi regency, West Java.
'We received a tip-off by the US-based Drugs Information Agency, which had long suspected that the region had been used as a drug distribution lane by an international drug syndicate,' BNN's drug eradication deputy head, Brig. Gen. Deddy Fauzi Elhakim, said on Wednesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
He said the syndicate regularly used boats to transport the drugs and smuggle them into the country, adding that the two Iranians were being detained by the BNN for further questioning.
According to BNN data, Indonesia is home to approximately 4.2 million drug users.(yln/dic)
