ustomsand Excise officers have foiled four different crystal methamphetamine smugglingattempts, seizing a total of 7.6 kilograms of the drug worth more than Rp 10billion (US$865,000). Five Indonesians and a Chinese citizen have beenarrested.
Investigation director of the Customs and Excise directorate general Muhammad Sigit said three smuggling attempts were detected at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and another one was uncovered by customs officers in Medan, North Sumatra.
'These people used the same modus operandi in the two different places, in Soekarno-Hatta airport and Medan, that is hiding the crystal meth within electronic massagers,' he told a press conference on Friday.
He said the customs had cooperated with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) when pursuing the smugglers.
BNN spokesman Sr. Comr. Soemirat Dwiyanto praised the latest arrests. (dic)
