he Golkar Party insistedon running its TV political commercials despite a moratorium banning politicaladverts before the scheduled period.
Deputy secretary- general Tantowi Yahya said the party had no reason to challenge the moratorium. He said the commercials for the party's presidential candidate Aburizal Bakrie and the party itself had continued to be screened because neither the party or the TV stations had accepted the official copy of the moratorium.
'We just know about the moratorium through media coverage,' Tantowi said on Thursday as quoted by Kompas.com.
All related stakeholders had agreed to sign a moratorium that would ban political parties from airing their advertisements before the scheduled campaign period of March 16 to April 2. (dic)
