he Democratic Party (PD) has opened possibility for its founder and chairman Susilo Bambang Yudhono to be one of the party's campaigners to boost electability in the April 9 legislative election.
Deputy chairman of the party's faction at the House of Representatives, Ferrari Romawi, said on Tuesday that the party would have to work around Yudhoyono's schedule as president
'It is very possible [Yudhoyono will be a campaigner], but it depends on his tight schedule,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
He said that even though Yudhoyono could not be as active as other campaigners, he would be very effective. However, he added the party would not be too dependent on Yudhoyono as it still had other potential figures.
'We have a lot of national campaigners, including myself and other legislative member too,' he said.
Meanwhile, chairwoman of the party's faction at the House, Nurhayati Ali Assegaf said that becoming a campaigner would not disrupt Yudhoyono's responsibilities as President.
She said that Yudhoyono could conducted campaigns on the weekend, which he had done in the 2009 General Elections.
'In 2009 he did not take any leave when campaigning,' he said. (idb/nvn)
