he ruling Democratic Party is ready to face Jakarta Governor Joko "Jokowi" Widodo, who has expressed his readiness to run for president, for this year's presidential election, the party's spokesperson, Andi Nurpati, said.
"We have prepared a strategy. Whoever the candidates are, we have the strategy," Andi said in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Jokowi said earlier on Friday that he was ready to run for president on the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) ticket.
Jokowi said he had been given the mandate by PDI-P chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri.
Andi said that the Democratic Party has studied all possible presidential candidates of other political parties for the upcoming presidential election.
According to her, all names were still on discourse until the legislative elections have the results.
"We have many people participating in our presidential candidate convention. They are ready to face other contenders like Joko Widodo, Prabowo Subianto or Aburizal Bakrie," she said.
Concerning Jokowi, she said that the PDI-P politician has not shown any achievement so far as the Jakarta governor.(***)
