'If you want to live in a better condition, then Golkar must win the elections,' he told a campaign meeting at Merdeka square in Medan on Thursday as quoted by antara.com.
The party's top brass, like secretary-general Idrus Marham, deputy advisory council chief Lt. Gen. (ret) Luhut Panjaitan and head of Golkar's North Sumatra chapter Ajib Shah, were also seen at the venue.
Aburizal said if Golkar won the elections, he would continue the previous government's best programs as well as implementing his own, called 'Vision 2045: Welfare State'.
'The good things in the past will not be forsaken,' he said.
Golkar, the country's second largest party, is seen as one of the few parties, along with the Indonesian Democracy Party of Struggle (PDI-P) that could win this year's elections.
