n official with the General Elections Commission (KPU) has said that with the deadline approaching, it is still short 1.6 million ballots.

'€œWe only have three days prior to our deadline of March 25 to print those ballots,'€ said KPU commissioner Arief Budiman during a KPU event in Bangkalan regency, East Java as quoted by Antara news portal on Saturday.

But then he acknowledged that it would only need a day or two to finish printing the remaining ballots. The KPU has allocated 750 million ballots for the upcoming general election.

Arief said the bigger problem was on the distribution side. He added that ballots were piling up in storage and needed to be distributed on time.

Besides the ballots, he added, the KPU was still monitoring logistics distribution to make sure ballots were delivered on time. (idb/dic)
