n official with the General ElectionsCommission (KPU) said 19 international organizations, 42 individuals from Myanmar, Cambodiaand Vietnam,30 foreign diplomats and representatives from neighboring countries hadrequested to observe the general election.
'I have asked all related parties to safeguard the upcoming elections and prevent them from all possible interventions,' KPU commissioner Hadar Navis Gumay said as quoted by kompas.com on Saturday.
He said the foreign observers would take up places outside polling stations. He also encouraged them to report any violations during the election process.
The legislative election is slated for April 9 and the presidential election on July 9. As many as 12 political parties will be participating in this year elections. (put/dic)
