esidents of Sako Makmur village in Sembawa district, Banyuasin regency, South Sumatra, have been given solar lighting by several institutions and volunteers as part of a project called the All-Lights Village Project.
The project offers solar lighting to villages with no electricity access. This program is expected to help local government administrations develop such villages in more remote areas.
This sustainable program employs the distribution of street lamps and interior lights as its primary focus, followed by educational development and local development to improve socioeconomic conditions in the villages.
The All-Lights Village Project in Sako Makmur is the sixth program in Indonesia and the first time it has been implemented outside Java. During this program, 13 street lamps were installed and 40 house lanterns distributed to families with school-age children. These lamps can be used at night without electricity, thus allowing the children to study after dark.
'I am very grateful for the solar lanterns as they will really help our children with their studies,' said Bonari, the head of Sako Makmur village.
