J

akarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto says a suspected child molester committed suicide in a restroom at the Jakarta Police headquarters by swallowing a cleaning substance.

Rikwanto said that Azwar had requested to go to the toilet and failed to return. Officers broke down the toilet door and found Azwar lying on the floor.

Kompas.com reported on Saturday that Azwar was rushed to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital in East Jakarta, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Azwar, a contracted cleaner hired by Jakarta International School, was among five cleaners suspected of molesting a 6-year-old pupil. The case is being investigated by the Jakarta Police. (dic)
