SBY calls for support for next government

'۬President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono stated on Wednesday that he hoped whoever would eventually continue his job as the next leader of the country could perform better.

'€œSo let'€™s us pave the way for the next president by making the path smoother,'€ he said on the opening of the 2014 National Development Planning Conference in Jakarta as quoted by Antara on Wednesday.

He said the country'€™s development plan for the next five to 10 years had been deliberated and thus it would be the next president'€™s job to implement it.

'€œLearn from my years of governing and by God'€™s help, I believe that the next government will be able to develop the country even further,'€ he said.

On the same occasion, Yudhoyono had also expressed his appreciation to all regional leaders who had supported his administration over the last 10 years.

'€œI wish you all good luck and extend my sincerest gratitude as this meeting will be the last I attend as president,'€ he said.

Half-jokingly, Yudhoyono had also said that the future president could be among those who attended this meeting.

The meeting was attended by all governors, including Jakarta Governor Joko '€˜Jokowi'€™ Widodo the presidential candidate of the Indonesian Democratic of Struggle (PDI-P).(idb/dic)
