Hary Tanoe urged to resign from Hanura

H

anura Party central executive board chairman Yuddy Chrisnandi said many party members wanted Hary Tanoesoedibjo to resign from Hanura due to the party'€™s poor showing in the legislative election.

Hary Tanoe (HT), as the party'€™s campaign team (Bappilu) manager, was considered to have failed in carrying out his duties so that Hanura could rank only 10th according to quick counts.

'€œHanura lost more than 5 million potential voters. HT is now considered the cause of Hanura'€™s failure to become a high-ranking party as previously expected. Many members want HT to take responsibility and resign from Hanura,'€ Yuddy said on Wednesday as quoted by kompas.com.

He said Hary'€™s presence in Hanura had no significant impact on the party. He further claimed that Hanura had a poor showing in the legislative election because Hary and his colleagues on the campaign team had no experience in dealing with election-related matters.

Yuddy admitted that Hary had made significant contributions to the party through election advertisements in his media outlets. '€œHowever, merely ads were not enough to boost Hanura so that it ranked 10th in the legislative election,'€ he went on.

Yuddy said that if with Hary were to resign, the party would have a more favorable internal situation to build a coalition ahead of the upcoming presidential election.

'€œI myself think that Hary Tanoe should resign only as Bappilu chief, not as a party member. This is so he would not need to intervene in preparing coalition strategies and measures to win the presidential election,'€ said Yuddy. (put/ebf)
