public opinion poll conducted by pollster the IndonesianSurvey Circle (LSI) has found that fortypercent of voters have yet to decide who tovote for in the July presidential election.
LSI interviewed 2,400 respondents in 33provinces with a margin of error of 2percent from May 1 to 9, as reported by tribunnews.com.
"Based on various simulations, up to 40percent of the general public are undecidedon their choices for president or vice president," LSI researcher Adjie Alfaraby said on Tuesday.
Adjie said this meant that any presidential orvice presidential candidate had a bigchance to win the presidency as theystill had time to persuade voters.
Several parties have named their ownpresidential candidates but no politicalparty won enough support in the April legislative election to pass the 25percent threshold that is required if aparty is to field its own presidential candidate.
Analysts say the upcoming election will be a three-horse race involving the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle's (PDI-P) Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo, the Gerindra Party's Prabowo Subianto and the Golkar Party's Aburizal Bakrie. (fss)
