he Mimika regency administration in Papua will soon dispatch relief aid to Jewa village, Tembagapura district, in response to a mounting food crisis there.
Acting Mimika Regent Ausilius You told Antara news agency on Friday that the food aid would be distributed as soon as possible.
The Mimika regency has been slow to send aid to Jewa, saying it only recently learned about the food crisis in the far-flung village.
'We will send the aid in the near future,' said Ausilius.
On Wednesday, the Amungme and Kamoro Community Development Institute (LPMAK) used Airfast helicopters from Timika to airlift two loads of foodstuffs to Jewa totaling 1,200 kilograms of food stuffs.
LPMAK spokesman Yeremias Imbiri said the aid packages included rice, instant noodles, cooking oil, milk and eggs.
