residential hopeful Joko 'Jokowi' Widodo on Wednesday hinted that his camp hadattracted additional support from former Democratic Party presidentialconvention participants.
'Yes, there are. But I can't unveil that yet. Just be patient and wait,' he said after attending the national coordinating meeting on inflation held at Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel in Jakarta.
'Later. But there are many of them for sure,' he added, likely referring to former primary participants who have joined his bandwagon.
Thus far, Jokowi and his running mate Jusuf Kalla, a senior Golkar politician and former vice president, are supported by the Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the Nasdem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Hanura Party.
Despite having introduced a primary to choose a presidential hopeful, the ruling Democratic Party confirmed on Tuesday that it would not nominate a presidential candidate.
A number of high-profile figures attended the convention. They included former Army chief of staff Gen. (ret) Pramono Edie Wibowo, Paramadina University rector Anies Baswedan, former Indonesian ambassador to the US Dino Patti Djalal and State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan.
No comments were available from any of the primary participants. (dic)
