ational flag carrier Garuda Indonesia launched on Friday its Jakarta-Amsterdam direct flight in order to provide its customers with better service and to create seamless connectivity from Indonesia to
Europe.
Garuda is using its new Boeing 777-300 Extended Range (ER) airliners to serve the route, which will fly five times a week.
The non-stop flight will transport passengers from Jakarta to Europe in under 14 hours.
Previously, the airline served the route with a stopover in Abu Dhabi with an Airbus 330-200.
Garuda president director Emirsyah Satar said the launch of the direct route showed the airline's commitment as a member of the SkyTeam global alliance.
"Amsterdam is one of SkyTeam's strategic hubs in Europe and it is very important for us to develop our networks from Amsterdam. This city will facilitate our passengers who wish to continue their journeys beyond Europe," Emirsyah said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Friday.
He said Garuda's Amsterdam hub was connected to 1,064 destinations in 178 countries, all of which were served by SkyTeam members. (nfo)
