he Jakarta Police have dispatched 3,850 officers to secure the General Elections Commission (KPU) in Jakarta, where the official numbers of each presidential ticket in the upcoming election will be confirmed on on Sunday.
'The officers are readied at a number of locations with security concerns,' Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said in Jakarta on Sunday.
According to Antara news agency, police officers are on duty both inside and outside the KPU headquarters on Jl. Imam Bonjol, Central Jakarta.
Rikwanto said around 4,500 supporters of candidate pair Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa would head to the KPU. They would gather at the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle and then head to the KPU, he added.
Meanwhile, the supporters of candidate pair Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla are reported to number around 3,150 supporters. They will gather at Menteng Park and Menteng Suropati before heading to the KPU.
Rikwanto said the Jakarta Police had coordinated with the KPU, which allowed each presidential-vice presidential candidate to bring around 150 supporters to witness the candidate number process.
The presidential election will take place on July 9. (ebf)
