residential candidate Joko "Jokowi" Widodo was scheduled to meet Yogyakarta Governor Sultan Hamengkubuwono X during a visit to the province on Monday, ahead of the official presidential campaign period from June 4 to July 5 set by the General Elections Commission (KPU).

Jokowi and his running mate Jusuf Kalla are supported by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB) and the Hanura Party, representing 207 seats, or 39.97 percent, in the House of Representatives.

'€œJokowi will meet the sultan by taking a ride on horse-drawn wagon [andong] after visiting Jl. Malioboro and Beringharjo Market,'€ Eriko Sotarduga, PDI-P deputy secretary-general, said as quoted by tempo.co on Monday.

Jokowi was also scheduled to visit the tomb of national hero General Soedirman at the Semaki Heroes Cemetery, and to pray at the Gede Mosque Kauman. (gda)
