he latest Nielsen On Device Meter (ODM) survey shows that Canadian cell phonemaker Blackberry remains the strongest brand in Indonesia even though KoreanSamsung is favored by most other Asian countries.
According to data released onThursday, 48 percent of smartphone users in the country choseBlackBerry as their top brand while 34 percent of them chose Blackberry as theirfavorite brand, kontan.co.idreported.
The data also showed that 79 percent of Indonesian smartphone users used the BlackBerry
Messenger (BBM) application for chatting while the rest were using Whatsapp and
LINE.
Samsung is the top brand and favorite brand in Malaysia, Singapore,
Philippines, India and Hong Kong.
Based on Nielsen Smartphone Insights in 2013, smartphone ownership in Indonesia accounted for 23 percent of the country's total handset ownership. (nfo)
