undreds of Indonesians in Japan are scheduled to declare their support for presidential candidate pair Joko Widodo and Jusuf Kalla. The declaration will be held simultaneously in three Japanese cities on Saturday.

Under the banner '€œKami di Jepang untuk Jokowi'€ (We in Japan support Jokowi), they will call on compatriots to support Jokowi based on seven considerations, namely new, clean, bhineka (diverse), proven, open, democratic and grassroots-oriented.

"The simultaneous declaration will be held in Tokyo, Osaka and Utsunomiya and will be conducted via video conference," the head of the declaration committee, Andhi Marjono, said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Thursday.

In addition to those who will attend the declaration, Jokowi-Kalla supporters in Japan will also sign an online declaration. The signatures collected will be presented to the Jokowi-Kalla campaign team as a show of support from "Kami di Jepang untuk Jokowi".

The "Kami di Jepang untuk Jokowi" people claim to back Jokowi and Kalla because they are ruled by their conscience and not political party alliances.

In addition to the declaration, the committee will also stage the '€œOne Yen for Jokowi'€ event, in which each Jokowi supporter in Japan will donate one Japanese yen (approximately Rp 115) for the Jokowi-Kalla campaign fund.

The one yen coins collected will be presented in a jar during the declaration as a symbol of the campaign.

'€œThis might not be a big amount of money. However, if many people contribute just this small amount, the effect will be big. This is a symbol of Jokowi'€™s campaign philosophy,'€ explained Ariawan, a committee member. (hhr)
